Bondings and Fillings

Chipping or breaking a tooth can be very painful. It can also leave the tooth misshapen or with a sharpened edge that could hurt the inside of your mouth. Dental bonding and fillings assist in rebuilding the affected tooth with special materials. We at Bayberry Dental Care are proud to offer both of these procedures to our patients. Your Tinley Park dentist is committed to helping fix your smile when unexpected chips and breaks occur!

Dental bonding restores the natural shape of your tooth by using composite resin matched to your specific tooth color. In cases of accidental damage or minor decay, it is an inexpensive way to restore the look of the tooth to its normal healthy self. Dental bonding can also be used for protecting the roots of your teeth. Receding gums exposing the tooth root allow bacteria in easily, making them more susceptible to infection.

Dental fillings focus more on restorative efforts rather than cosmetic ones since they are stronger and more durable than dental bonding. This method also has a low cost but is the better option over dental bonding in the long run. Whereas dental bonding fixes the outside of the tooth, dental fillings fix the inside of a tooth damaged from decay or breakage. For back teeth, it’s better to use metal fillings so that it can better withstand the force of chewing.

Do you think your teeth need bonding or fillings? We can check your mouth and determine that for you! Bayberry Dental Care is located at 8014 W 171st St. in Tinley Park, IL 60477. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please visit bayberrydentalcare.com or call 708-802-8300.

Dental Bonding Breakage

When a tooth is cracked, chipped, or fractured, Dr. Kathleen Falsey, DDS of Bayberry Dental Care offers dental bonding to save it. Bonding is one of the easiest and least expensive cosmetic procedures that involve applying a composite-resin (tooth-colored material) to give teeth a healthy appearance. If you’ve had dental bonding placed in the past, we're here to tell you what to do when the bonding itself, breaks.

Dental bonding may appear the same as tooth enamel, but it doesn’t have the same strength. Tooth enamel is the strongest bone in our bodies, and once it’s gone, it doesn’t grow back. With dental bonding, it’s important to be aware of the foods you’re eating, as acidity can break down bonding over time. Additionally, you should avoid opening packages with your teeth to avoid chipping the bonding. If you’ve completed a dental bonding procedure and feel a slight crack in the tooth, contact us immediately so we can assess the situation.

If you have questions about dental bonding, don’t hesitate to give us a call. To learn about services we provide at our practice, visit www.bayberrydentalcare.com for more information. Dental Bonding to Repair Smiles

A chip or a crack can really affect a smile. While this may seem devastating at first, it is really a simple fix! Here at Bayberry Dental Care in Tinley Park, IL, Dr. Kathleen Falsey, DDS utilizes dental bonding to fix cracks, chips, and other dental imperfections.

Dental bonding is the process of using a tooth-colored composite resin to repair teeth that have been damaged. Dental bonding can also improve the look of gapped teeth, misaligned teeth, misshapen teeth, and even discoloration. It is cosmetic and restorative dental procedure.

To begin the process of dental bonding, Dr. Falsey first will lightly etch the surface of the tooth to aid a strong bond. Next, a resin that has been chosen to match your teeth will be applied and molded into the right shape. For whitening purposes, a resin will be chosen that is brighter than your current shade and it will be applied over the entire surface of your teeth. The resin is hardened and polished for a natural shine. Just like that, your dental imperfection is part of a beautiful smile!
